Dasher The Band Delivers "Ouachita Woods"

On the heels of a 13-show run with Larry Fleet and the release of “Tennessee (Front Porch Version),” brother-sister duo Dasher The Band – comprised of Max and Laela Dasher – dropped their latest release today, Friday, May 15. “Ouachita Woods” is compelling and unforgettable – a powerful showcase not only of their artistry, but also of the upbringing that shaped who they are.
Rich harmonies, eclectic instrumentation and deeply resonant lyricism are just a few of the qualities that set these standout newcomers apart – and the new song brings each of them vividly to the forefront.
“Our sound pulls from different parts of the south,” shares the duo collectively. “Our momma is from Alabama, our dad from central Florida, and in our teen years, we found ourselves in the Blue Ridge Mountains, drawn to Appalachian Folk music and its way of telling stories. Those influences come together naturally in what we write. It’s always about the story.
But our story begins in the Ouachita Woods of Northeast Louisiana. And our inspiration for this song came from the freedom that we had growing up so immersed in the land. ‘Ouachita Woods’ is an ode to a well-lived childhood. Our early years were spent in Northeast Louisiana, specifically Ouachita Parish, which runs along the muddy Ouachita River. That river raised us a bit and we spent most of our days outside. Our momma had only a few rules; use your imagination and don’t come back inside until dinner. That landscape still shapes how we make music.”
Penned by Max, Laela and Zoe Balson, the song is truly a must-listen and is a stand-out release in their growing catalog. Unbothered by passing trends, Dasher The Band is currently on the road with Big Loud Texas’ Alex Lambert before heading back on tour with Larry Fleet. They are also working on a debut project.
