Russell Dickerson & Creatives Celebrate At #1 Party

Russell Dickerson brought the music industry together at BMI’s Nashville lobby yesterday, April 15, to celebrate his sixth career and multi-week chart topper, “Happen to Me.” The Triple Tigers artist was reunited with his cowriters Chase McGill, Chris LaCorte and producer Josh Kerr and nods were given to Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” writer Robert Hazard and Jessie Jo Dillion, while all were praised for the song’s success as the genre-crossing hit just received an American Music Award nomination for “Best Country Song.”

“Happen to Me” has surpassed 344 million streams to date and landed on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as the Hot AC and Top 40 charts. Dickerson’s “torchy romance” (People) single, “Worth Your Wild” follows the song’s success and is the title-track from his latest feel-good EP. The event was hosted by BMI’s Mason Hunter and sponsored by Studio Bank, as Ron Cox made a special donation presentation on behalf of Dickerson and the songwriters in support of Cul2vate.Green River Whiskey, the new official whiskey sponsor of BMI No. One parties, gifted Dickerson and his collaborators with a commemorative bottle of single barrel bourbon in honor of their chart-topper.
